Dr. Kerry Burrell is known for his calm, confident approach to patient care and his strong commitment to education and communication. He is highly respected for engaging patients in their own eye health, taking time to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term care plans in a clear and supportive way.
Dr. Burrell earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Scranton before completing his Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He serves on the Allied Health Medical Staff at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, where he provides inpatient consultations and emergency department eye care.
Dr. Burrell enjoys comprehensive primary eye care with special interests in ocular disease management and advanced contact lens services. He is particularly recognized for his success in managing complex contact lens cases, including myopia control, multifocal lens designs, refractive corneal reshaping (orthokeratology), and keratoconus.
In addition, Dr. Burrell is deeply committed to community service and access to care. He participates as an InfantSEE provider, offering no-cost vision and eye health examinations for infants ages 6–12 months, and as a VisionUSA doctor, providing free eye care to working adults referred through the Salvation Army.
Dr. Burrell is active in the community as a member of the Masonic Union Lodge in Birdsboro and the Scottish Rite Cathedral Valley of Reading. He has a strong passion for music and performance, enjoying guitar and singing. He was named Associate Producer for the annual Wings of Hope Cancer Benefit Concert in Douglassville, a community event that raises funds and awareness for cancer support and research. He is also proud to serve as a member of the Daniel Boone School District Business Advisory Board and as an Assistant Coach within the Boyertown Bears Advanced Play baseball organization.
