Amanda S. Legge, O.D.

Dr. Amanda Legge has been serving patients as an integral part of the practice since 2012. She brings a deep passion for clinical excellence, education, and comprehensive eye care.
Dr. Legge earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wilkes University, where she also minored in neuroscience, chemistry, and theater arts. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, where she focused on advanced clinical training, including a certification in advanced retinal studies.
Her clinical interests span a broad range of eye and visual health conditions, with special expertise in retinal disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), inherited retinal diseases, and other complex visual conditions. Dr. Legge is a frequent lecturer to optometric colleagues and community audiences, and has authored numerous articles for national optometric publications. She also participates as an investigator in FDA clinical trials for medical devices, pharmaceuticals and contact lenses.
Dr. Legge serves on the medical staff at Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing, where she provides specialized neuro-optometric services for both inpatient and outpatient populations. Her work focuses on the evaluation and treatment of visual dysfunction related to brain injury, including concussion, stroke, and other neurological conditions. In addition, she is on staff at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, where she provides inpatient consults and Emergency Department eye care. Through these roles, Dr. Legge plays an integral part in helping patients regain visual function, improve daily performance, and enhance overall quality of life following neurological injury.
In recognition of her contributions to the profession, Dr. Legge was named the 2024 Special Recognition Alumna of the Year by the Salus University Alumni Association, one of the university’s highest honors, celebrating her leadership, innovation, and impact in optometry.
Dr. Legge is also involved in professional leadership and community service. She is the President of the Berks County Optometric Society, serves on the Board of Directors of the Vision Resource Center of Berks County, and is active with the Muhlenberg Lions Club.
Outside of the office, Dr. Legge enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters, being outdoors, and staying involved in music and art. She values balance between her professional and personal life and remains focused on delivering practical and high-quality patient care.
